Renaissance Gastronomy: A Passage Between the Middle Ages and the Modern Era @ 1921 Mount Dora | Mount Dora | Florida | United States

The Modernism Museum Mount Dora presents our next Dine & Learn event,
Renaissance Gastronomy: A Passage Between the Middle Ages and the Modern Era, on
Wednesday, March 6th at 6:30 PM and Thursday, March 7th at 12:30 PM, hosted by our partner
restaurant, 1921 Mount Dora. This incredibly engaging session is led by former teacher and art
expert Herve Le Guilloux.
In this Dine & Learn, Mr. Le Guilloux will discuss the development and refinement of European
cuisine from the 14th to 17th centuries. For all classes of society, Renaissance food culture
evolved through social mores, and scientific and medical beliefs.
When did diet books first commonly appear? What might Leonardo da Vinci have eaten; what
did his kitchen look like? What are the roots of the Italian cuisine we enjoy today? How were
westernized table manners adopted and refined? Learn what shaped the diets of the era, as
related through art, narratives and literature of the times.
Price for this Dine & Learn session is $35, and includes a three-course dinner (Wednesday) or
luncheon (Thursday):
Dinner – Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30 at 1921 Mount Dora
Luncheon – Thursday, March 7 at 12:30 at 1921 Mount Dora
Contact the Modernism Museum or 1921 Mount Dora directly for menu details. Please call the
